Over the Christmas period my family and I travelled to the USA on the ‘trip of a lifetime’. We travelled to all of the most unreal, fantasy based places on the planet! Disneyland California, Hollywood, Legoland San Diego, Las Vegas, New York and we even did a cruise to Mexico and back! I had the most fun I have had in years and I was even ‘itching’ to get back to work - for the first time I can remember!
From a business/economic point of view I can see that the USA is a country in decline. The roads, buildings and infrastructure all looked old and in need of serious renovation. To me it looks like they spent all their money on invading other countries when they needed to invest it back into their own back yard. In addition I noticed a lot of poor, homeless and disaffected people. There were also a lot of men past the age of 50 who I met who had lost their jobs in the GFC with no immediate hope of getting one back. It seems a far cry from the current resource boom here in WA. A serious lot of machinists, fitters and boilermakers out of work when we can’t get any here in Perth!
Personally from my own experiences this was a stark contrast from the growing economic conditions in China. New buildings, bridges, fast trains, houses, roads, golf courses (basically everything) wherever you look.
If this is an indication of the future of the world economic order then to my untrained eye the future is already here and has been for 5 years or more.
I am even more committed to learning more about China and making my business “China Ready” because whether we like it or not China is already and increasingly becoming a very important factor in doing business in WA and the greater Asia Pacific region.
Globe BD is celebrating 3 years of having an office in China, and I am committed to continuing our knowledge and expertise in dealing with doing business in China or dealing with Chinese people.
If we can help you in any way with this please let us know.
I can say one thing for sure though, I had a lot more fun travelling to the entertainment capital of the world than I have had in visiting China in the past!
Happy Travelling!

It’s the business persons job to be optimistic, the accountant can deal with the pessimism but all people running businesses are charged with being optimistic.
The energy of the team comes from the top. if the general’s are not confident that the battle can be won then the troops will have no morale and will probably be killed in action - not a good scenario. A crazy dictator is probably better for the soldiers life expectancy than a depressed leader preparing for his own retirement.
We can be confident about business in Western Australia in 2012, I can personally already see signs of recovery.
What opportunities are available for your business in 2012? What are we doing to strategically deal with the ever increasing shortage of quality people.
Whatever the answer be optimistic even if it seems crazy because its better than the alternative!

I am reminded of the quote ‘most people aim at nothing and hit it with surprising accuracy’ as I prepare to attend a funeral today. Why? well it reminds me that regardless of the years spent walking the earth our time here is short. A wise man told me today that ‘money lost can be recovered but once time is spent you can never get it back’. A continual review of goals and direction is required and ‘a life unexamined is not worth living’.
Thoughts for the day anyway.
Globe BD is currently actively looking for more work.

HI All,
A couple of exciting things to report.
Our China activities are really taking off, we have recently met with several people from China who are looking to establish a business and personal base in Western Australia.
As we meet with more and more Chinese people from Hang Zhou we are developing both relationships and expertise with Chinese business people and the how to deal with them in a mutually rewarding manner.
The other piece of exciting news is the securing of Mark Harvey for our annual client get together which will be held on Friday the 12th of November at the same place as last year - Willetto Sports Club -be sure to be a part of it!
cheers

Globe BD is a team of accountants that have a forward and strategic outlook on the role of the business advisor as opposed to the ‘rear view mirror’ approach of the past. We have been doing business in Port Hedland for a number of years and recently travelled their on a fact finding mission to investigate the possibility of establishing a permanent base there.
Having lived in WA all my life and never travelled to Port Hedland before, I must say I was taken back by the beauty of the place and the potential there - despite all the gloomy faces and negative comments on the plane on the way up there.
At Globe BD we have a lot of expertise and experience in mining related industries - such as Transport, Equipment Hire, Trades and related services and Contracting. We pride ourselves on being a more ‘blue collar’ type worker. Our head office is in Canning Vale - and we service all of the industrial areas of the greater perth Metro area - I personally have almost forgotton what West Perth looks like!
I think thats why Port Hedland is so appealing for us - its a natural extension of our existing business. We now just have to figure out how to get up there - where to live and where to base our office.
We welcome any enquiries and all of our details can be found on our website www.globebd.com.au
Cheers

Hi All,
Martin and myself have been busy establishing ourselves in our China office located in Perth’s sister city - Hang Zhou. It is a beautiful place - one thing I can say is that its heaps nosier here than in Perth. I am not sure if the locals have heard of CRC or even oil for their bikes (millions of bikes with noisy brakes!).
Anyway its an experience to be here.
Already we have gathered expertise in how to set up business here in China - so please feel free to ask anyone from Globe BD any questions you might have - the opportunities are everywhere!
Also we have identified a market for our services in assisting Chinese business people in immigrating to Australia. Of course I will school them in the importance of embracing the Aussie culture - ie making sure they know about Freo!
Anyway talk soon!
Cheers
Rod
